Binomy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 September 2026

Binomy is a mobile application that helps students find housing and contact landlords directly. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Binomy Android and iOS apps and to binomy.net.

Who we are

Binomy is operated from Tunisia. For any question about this policy or your data, contact [email protected].

What we collect

DataWhy we need it
Name and email addressTo create and identify your account.
Gender (required)Rooms and shared flats are often let to one gender only. We use this to match you with listings you are eligible for, and to let landlords state who a free place is for.
Date of birth (required)To confirm you meet our minimum age of 18. We store the date, not your age.
Whether you are a student or an employee (required), and your institution or job title (optional)Landlords see this one line on a rental request, and it lets students filter for listings from other students.
Phone number (optional)Only if you add it, so landlords or tenants can reach you.
Profile photo (optional)Shown on your profile and in conversations.
University and preferred language (optional)To tailor listings and app language.
Listings you publish, including photos and the address and map location of the propertyTo display your property to other users. The map pin shown to others is deliberately offset from the exact point, so the precise address is not revealed until you share it yourself.
Searches you save, and listings you favouriteTo run a saved search again and to alert you when a new listing matches it.
Users you block and reports you fileTo keep blocked people out of your conversations and to investigate reported content.
Booking requests and their datesTo manage reservations between you and the other party.
Messages and any files you send in chatTo deliver your conversations.
Push notification tokenTo notify you about new messages and booking updates.
Online / last-seen statusTo show whether the person you are chatting with is available.
Problem reports you send (optional): your description, a screenshot if you attach one, the app version, your device model, its operating system version and the app languageTo investigate and fix the problem you reported. Screenshots are visible only to the Binomy team.

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, or your browsing activity outside the app.

How we use it

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not profile you, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Who processes data on our behalf

These providers process data only to deliver the service to you. Binomy contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not use an advertising identifier.

What other users can see

Your name and profile photo are visible to people you message and to the owner of a listing you request. If you publish a listing, its details and photos are visible to everyone using the app. Your email address and phone number are never shown to other users unless you write them into a listing or a message yourself.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, listings, bookings, conversations, messages, uploaded photos, and push token are permanently removed. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Backups are purged within 30 days.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from the app: open the Profile tab and choose Delete account. You do not need the app to make the request — see binomy.net/delete-account.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes and are never visible to us. Access to stored data is restricted by row-level security rules so that users can reach only their own records.

Your rights

You can access and correct your profile data in the app at any time, and you can delete your account as described above. To request a copy of your data or ask any question about how it is handled, write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.

Children

Binomy is intended for users aged 18 and over. Renting a place is a contract, so the app does not accept a date of birth that makes someone younger, and the rule is enforced on our servers as well as in the app. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe such a person has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
